If one connects to an SVN repository over SSL and it happened that he didn't import the "selfsigned" or "not trusted" certificate to the store. The SVN plugin will report the following error in the log file. {noformat} 2008-02-13 14:49:14,468 JiraQuartzScheduler_Worker-2 ERROR [ext.subversion.revisions.RevisionIndexService] Error indexing changes: org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNAuthenticationException: svn: Authentication required for '<https://svn.mycompany.com:443> Developers Subversion repository' org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNAuthenticationException: svn: Authentication required for '<https://svn.mycompany.com:443> Developers Subversion repository' at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.wc.SVNErrorManager.error(SVNErrorManager.java:41) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVUtil.findStartingProperties(DAVUtil.java:124) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVUtil.getBaselineProperties(DAVUtil.java:197) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVUtil.getBaselineInfo(DAVUtil.java:160) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVRepository.getLatestRevision(DAVRepository.java:145) at com.atlassian.jira.plugin.ext.subversion.revisions.RevisionIndexer.updateIndex(RevisionIndexer.java:228) {noformat} This error seems to be quite misleading in terms of what is the actual source of the problem. We are getting issues in SAC starting with something similar to: "I'm using correct credentials for the connection, although JIRA still can't connect and reports errors ...Authentication required... so what is wrong?" At this stage we need to ask user to verify two things: # if they have used valid credentials, # if they are using "selfsigned" or "not trusted" certificate and have imported the certificate as per http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Connecting+to+SSL+services

JIRA does not startup if (at least) one subversion repository is offline. The resulting error is a 404 for all JIRA urls. From the atlassian-jira.log: 2008-10-28 11:39:31,155 JiraQuartzScheduler_Worker-3 ERROR [plugin.ext.subversion.SubversionManagerImpl] Connection to Subversion repository https://dev.XXXXXX.com/reposjava failed: org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNAuthenticationException: svn: Authentication required for '<https://dev.XXXXXX.com:443>' org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNAuthenticationException: svn: Authentication required for '<https://dev.XXXXXX.com:443>' at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.wc.SVNErrorManager.error(SVNErrorManager.java:53) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.wc.SVNErrorManager.error(SVNErrorManager.java:40) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVUtil.findStartingProperties(DAVUtil.java:124) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVConnection.fetchRepositoryUUID(DAVConnection.java:88) at org.tmatesoft.svn.core.internal.io.dav.DAVRepository.testConnection(DAVRepository.java:85) at com.atlassian.jira.plugin.ext.subversion.SubversionManagerImpl.activate(SubversionManagerImpl.java:260) at com.atlassian.jira.plugin.ext.subversion.revisions.RevisionIndexer.updateIndex(RevisionIndexer.java:237) at com.atlassian.jira.plugin.ext.subversion.revisions.RevisionIndexService.run(RevisionIndexService.java:31) at com.atlassian.jira.service.JiraServiceContainerImpl.run(JiraServiceContainerImpl.java:56) at com.atlassian.jira.service.ServiceRunner.execute(ServiceRunner.java:61) at org.quartz.core.JobRunShell.run(JobRunShell.java:191) at org.quartz.simpl.SimpleThreadPool$WorkerThread.run(SimpleThreadPool.java:516) After the subversion server was back online cleanup as described in JSP-21957 was required.
