This is messy enough I'm going to start over.... this is mainly for documentation for someone else who tries this on a similar configuration system is an Athlon 2400+ running fedora core3 cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.9-1.667 (bhcompile@tweety.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 3.4.2 20041017 (Red Hat 3.4.2-6.fc3)) #1 Tue Nov 2 14:41:25 EST 2004 downloaded and installed all the following on 11-jan-05 jdk-1_5_0_01-nb-4_0-bin-linux.bin from sun maven-1.0.2.tar.gz and the heritrix CVS tree from sourceforge did all the things in the things in the developers guide to install it and discovered a few things. I made the following changes to project.properties ###maven.jar.commons-httpclient = ${basedir}/lib/commons-httpclient-3.0-alpha2.jar ###maven.jar.commons-logging = ${basedir}/lib/commons-logging-1.0.4.jar ###maven.jar.commons-collections = ${basedir}/lib/commons-collections-3.1.jar ###maven.jar.ant = ${basedir}/lib/ant-1.5.4.jar ###maven.jar.junit = ${basedir}/lib/junit-3.8.1.jar ###maven.jar.commons-net = ${basedir}/lib/commons-net-1.1.0.jar this was to solve path override errors that caused maven to quit ************************************** After fixing the path override errors maven got an error complaining about DiskStackTest. ..../ArchiveOpenCrawler/target/test-reports/DiskStackTest.txt sez Testsuite: org.archive.queue.DiskStackTest Tests run: 3, Failures: 1, Errors: 0, Time elapsed: 0.579 sec the Testcase: testCtorBadFile(org.archive.queue.DiskStackTest): FAILED no exception on bad file junit.framework.AssertionFailedError: no exception on bad file at org.archive.queue.DiskStackTest.testCtorBadFile(DiskStackTest.java:113) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:3 9): I made the following change at about line 107 in ./src/java/org/archive/queue/DiskStackTest.java File storeFile = new File("/dev/uncreateablefile/crud"); (btw, it had created /dev/uncreateablefile, I've not had the energy to figure out what that really is....) maven then ran farther ******************************************* the developers manual sez while discussing maven-sdocbook-plugin-1.4-SNAPSHOT.jar " put it into your maven repository plugins directory, usually at ${HOME}/.maven/plugins/" that directory does not exist and the plugins are in ./maven/cache however, putting sdocbook into there did not work. I had to cd /root/.maven ln -s cache plugins ********************************************** there are 26 javadoc warnings about midpoint of the build and a bunch of other warnings later but .... --selftest works one more thing after running maven dist I've got a directory structure that looks somewhat like a .php program out of control. ..../ArchiveOpenCrawler/target/heritrix-1.3.0/bin/heritrix-1.3.0/bin etc I'd be happy to send anyone any files, output (if I can snag it), files, etc dave at solid dot net
